It all started with a post from North Shore Eats member Marc Freedman offering his talents on piano (and microphone when allowed) as a volunteer to local restaurants. His offer was to do this as a volunteer, to bring his love to entertain through his music to the people for no charge to the establishment or customers. He states 'Just looking to entertain with some background music rather than playing in my house' in the post. The reaction and response from NSE Members was mostly all positive and (morning April 5) there are over 900 likes and 400 comments on his post. Everyone wants to support Marc and listen to great music and eat yummy food, but also are tagging their favorite restaurants. Many are calling him our very own NSE Volunteer Piano Man. Not to upset any professional musicians in the group, which we have amazing talent as members, Marc is an amateur. However, some people are just born entertainers, they have that thing. You want to just watch them; their expressions, their gestures, their voices, and laugh and enjoy. I am so excited to be entertained by someone I know is so talented and fun. So get ready NSE Members because Marc Freedman brings the party, whether 2 people or 100! (Well, as much party as COVID regulations allow that is.)
If Marc looks familiar that is because he runs the B'nai Brith Booth at Topsfield Fair, and hosts a radio spot on 104.9FM Dollars & Sense. Most of us NSE Members look forward to every October when we can get candy apples, cotton candy and an 'Oy Vey' sandwich at the fair. If you are lucky when you go to the booth and order an Oy Vey, if Marc is there he will blow the shofar! So the fact Marc is offering his talents for the enjoyment of the community and to benefit others, well it is just who he is and what he does. We need more Marc Freedman's in this world! A little shameless plug for the B'nai Brith Booth Topsfield Fair Oct 2021 menu includes brisket, hot pastrami, knishes, Kosher hot dogs, fruit noodle kugel, matzo ball soup, burgers, bagels, potato latkes, mac n cheese and much more.
Fun Marc Fact: Performed with Up With People in the 1986 Super Bowl XX where our beloved Patriots were defeated by the Chicago Bears (Marc is in the yellow sweatshirt playing the keyboard).
Completely Irrelevant Fact: Marc's youngest brother Andy 'Drew' Freedman was my first date.
